October 29 is commemorated as World Stroke Day. The annual event was started in 2006 by the World Stroke Organization(WSO) and the WSO declared stroke a public health emergency in 2010.
One of the stroke victim is Andarias Sarra, 80, who lives in Makassar, Indonesia. Mr. Sarra survives from two stroke attacks. He first got stroke in 2013. Second stroke came on March 2015.
Last stroke has weaken his feet and his body balance. His psychomotor ability become extremely low and it makes him moves very slow. When he walks, he has to hold on his walking stick or rest his hand on the wall. After the second stroke he is suffering from beriberi due to vitamin B deficiency.
During his treatment due the second stroke, all his family thought Mr.Sarra would pass away. His family had called pastors to pray for him and make confession of sin. Miraculously, he survives.
But some of his families believe Mr.Sarra has supernatural power inherited from his grandfather, a powerful warrior who lived in early 1900’s. They believe the power has made Andarias hard to die. In his young age, Andarias was indeed known for his bravery.
He now lives in her daughter house with his wife Dortje Noni, 73, his grandson and granddaughter in-law. He spends two third of his time for sleeping and when he wakes up, he sits in the house veranda.
